Heroes

To me heroes are not just people who save you like the ones in comic books, I think heroes inspire others to do what they believe in. For example, heroes who try to save the environment inspire others to try and save it as well. Other heroes such as sports stars may be the reason that so many people try to be as successful as there heroes which gives them somewhere to go in life.

Even though I am not talking about the heroes in comic books, heroes in reality can save people when they are in trouble. This can be done even by doing a small deed such as standing up and helping somebody out.

Heroes to me are people like Pele (a great soccer player) because he inspires me to reach my goals and Batman (fantasy super hero) because he inspires people to help others.

My Appreciation

I am sitting on a log in the forest. Everything is peaceful silent perhaps but I can still hear the sound of the wind brushing on branches and leaves. Also the rhythmic chirp of the birds. Everywhere I look is full of the “forest nature” colours – brown and green. I appreciate how it looks, it’s natural colour and not a different colour because of litter.

The simple yet unique pinecones surround me in every direction. High above me is the point of a large tree covered in fantastic life. I continue to shift for comfortability on the tree I am sitting on because nature is not shaped for sitting.

When I turn just to see a man-maid fence it ruins my imagination of beauty. Therefore I quickly turn away and I see humming birds chirping their “humms”. Then suddenly on of the forces of nature (the wind) changed and all the life changed with it. Branches are still, leaves stop scattering and all the birds change their tune.

I turn my head and all I see is a lot of man-maid cars turning on their engine to leave a parking lot and once again my imagination vanishes.

The End

I know everybody wants a happy ending but seriously if our appreciation for the environment doesn’t change there won’t be a happy ending.

Bullying

Are you having problems with bullying? There are many ways to prevent those problems.

One thing I know is that bullying is like a triangle because you need three things

  1. A bully
  2. Bystanders (usually the bully’s friends)
  3. Victim

If the victim tries to leave the triangle the bully will most likely continue to pick on him. I find the most effective way to solve the problem is to take out the bystanders. The reason is if there is nobody for the bully to “entertain” the bully will most likely stop.

A bystander can stop the problem without losing any of his friends. All he would have to do is explain to the bully that -it is not cool to tease other people and get fun out of it we could have more fun playing ball or something… That’s all it takes, now the triangle is broken.

However, if the bystanders do not step up there are still other ways to stop the problem. One way is to talk to the bully confidently and make him realize what he is doing. The victim can explain how the bully is getting pleasure from his pain.

Other ways are to make some friends and stick around them. A bully is less likely to bother a whole group of people then just one person.

In most cases bullies can pick out victims. They have there head tilted downward there hand are together. The victim is crouched over and usually looks away from other people.

If the victim has a confident stance (chin up, looking around, hands at your side and walking normally) that could help him avoid getting teased.

A way to stop the bullying when a victim is being bullied is to use humor or better yet change the subject. The reason is if the victim can distract the bully maybe he will not be thinking about bullying. Another way is to annoy the bully until he realizes he is not hurting any feelings, the way to do this is to repeat stop or go away until the bully gets tired.

Now that I have told you ways to get rid of the victim and the bystanders, there is one more point of the triangle… the bully. Taking out the bully is usually not the most hopeful idea. But sometimes the bully may get tired of annoying one person for a long time. What I mean is if the victim ignores the bully it will probably pass.

I hope I have offered some useful advice, and I hope that you will use my tips when you, or a friend, needs help. Thank-you.

Flying Pigs

I just love the idea of “anything is possible”. This pig is a very good example of that. You know how sometimes people say the chances of that are the same chances that a pig would fly. Well… here it is folks a pig getting prepared for flight. So now I am going to tell you a story based on the moral of “anything is possible”.

Once upon a pig there was a pig. He always thought he was going to be the first pig that could fly. Nobody believed him though, everyone that he was insane.

James (the “insane” pig) always got teased about his belief of possibility. His response was always, his motto- “anything is possible”.

One day the bully of the pig school (bronco pig) was really teasing and annoying James. Bronco said “if you really think that anything is possible prove it to us”. “What do you mean” said James with rage. “Fly, that’s what I mean”. James’ stomach was not doing to well at that point. He still thought he could fly he just never thought about how or when.

Lightbulb, James new what to do. He brought Bronco and all the kids to the swimming pool. He nervously made his way up the big huge “human” diving board. Once he reached the end of the board James said I can do this, I can do this, I can do this.

Therefore he leapt off the diving board and flew all the way to China the whole way saying

       ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!

The Difference

                     Before and After

The Difference blogging has made to my life at school… Is amazing. I can’t even explain how much more interesting it is to blog than to do normal work. Blogging also pushes me to do better, quality work because I know that many people read my posts, or at least I hope so :)

Also, instead of just meeting the people in my classroom during school hours I also meet kids from all over the world (just look at my clustr map). Actually, one of my goals in blogging is to connect with a wide variety of kids. The reason is I am interested in their cultures and how school is in different places.

As well as meeting new people blogging has also changed my attitude towards learning. What I mean is last year if I was given an assignment to write on paper and hand in to my teacher, my thoughts would be… oh, what a drag. But if I am given a blogging assignment to show everyone who visits my blog, my thoughts would be great, now I can share my learning with others.

Not only has blogging changed my life at school but it has also changed my life in general, for example- before I started blogging if I got back from a vacation I definitely would not have written about it. Now if I come back from a vacation I find it necessary to write a post about it. When I first ask myself why?… my answer is because I have to. When I think again I realize it is because I have readers now and I have to keep them interested. Also because I love blogging.

The reason I wrote this post is because of a post Sue Waters wrote on her blog. Check it out by clicking here.
